Stop Using These 3 Skincare Products!
I'm an esthetician and I know skincare. I have been using skincare products since my mom put me in a training bra (true story). So when it comes to what skincare products I do—and don't—use, you can trust me. Here are three skincare products that I would not use, no matter how desperate I was. And trust me, I've been desperate.
Make-Up Wipe
Makeup wipes are often advertised as a quick and convenient way to remove makeup, but in reality, they simply don’t cleanse the skin. For one thing, they leave a film on the surface of the skin that can clog pores and lead to breakouts and they simply do not remove dirt and oil from your skin’s surface.
Apricot Scrub
This scrub is popular because it “feels like it’s working”, but it does more harm than good. The harsh exfoliating, ground-down nut shells can leave micro-tears on the skin, which disrupts the skin barrier and makes the skin more susceptible to irritation. In addition, apricot scrub can strip away the natural oils that protect the skin, leading to dryness, and sensitivity and leaving your skin a hot mess.
Makeup that has an SPF
Makeup that has SPF included is another product that I discourage the use as the only source of sunscreen. Why? because you would have to use a quarter's worth of foundation to get the protection needed from the sunscreen. That's a lot of makeup! Use the makeup for its intended purpose but get a separate sunscreen to give you that protects your skin needs.
Thank you for reading! I hope this gave you a little more insight into skincare products I would not recommend. As always, if you have any questions or want to book an appointment, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment!
