Retinol and Your Evening Routine

Why is it good for the skin?

Retinol is an ingredient found in skincare products that help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots to name a few. But let us not forget retinol also helps to improve your skin texture, increases your cell turnover (we need this!), even out your skin tone, reduces acne, and stimulates your collagen production (Plump up that skin!). Retinol is a must if you want to improve the appearance of your skin and make it look softer and more radiant.

How to start using it-

My advice to first-time users, go-low-an-go-slow to avoid the dreaded dryness which is associated with retinol use. Start by using a low percentage of retinol every third evening, for about a month. You can increase the frequency to every other evening and continue this till you are using it nightly. If your feel your skin becoming irritated, you can always cut back on using it to whatever your skin can tolerate. Or you can also try buffering retinol with your moisturizer, which can help your skin acclimate to reduce irritation. When you plan on receiving waxing or facial services, I always recommend discontinuing retinol 72-hour before your appt.

Benefits you can expect-

When used regularly, retinol will result in firmer, more youthful-looking skin. In addition, your other skincare products will work so much better. Why? Because retinol causes cell turnover which means it removes the dead skin, which creates a barrier, not letting other products penetrate your skin. Once the dead skin has been eliminated, your other products, such as serums and moisturizers can work more efficiently. If you are looking for a way to achieve smoother, more radiant skin, then consider incorporating a retinol product into your daily skincare routine.

Retinol is a powerhouse ingredient that can do wonders for your skin. By adding it to your nightly skincare routine, you’re giving yourself the best chance at achieving healthier skin. If you want to experience all of the benefits that retinol has to offer, be sure to add it to your nightly skincare regimen.
